Your First Consultation: What to Expect

Your First Consultation: What to Expect

Whether you're exploring adoption, seeking custody as a non-parent, planning your estate, or navigating   an estate   succession after a loved one’s passing,   the unknown   can feel overwhelming. At   Gaudin Law Group , we strive to make the process as smooth and supportive as possible.

Here’s how you can prepare to make the most of your initial   consult.

  1. Know Your Goals

Before   we meet , reflect on what you hope to accomplish. Having a clear goal helps our team understand your needs and   be   better   able to   guide you.

  1. Gather Relevant Documents

Bringing the right paperwork helps us better   understand   your sit uation and use your time efficiently.    The documents you’ll need can vary depending on the type of legal   issue .   If you're unsure what to bring, feel free to call ahead—we’re happy to help.

To make things easier, we’ve created a   blog   specifically designed to help you prepare based on your unique situation.

👉   See our blog:   “What to Bring to Your Consultation”   for more details.

  1. Write Down Your Questions

It’s easy to forget important questions   in the moment .   Taking a few minutes beforehand to write down anything you're curious about or concerned with can help ensure we address what matters most to you.

We welcome your questions and want you to leave feeling informed and confident.

  1. Be Honest and Open

Your privacy is a top priority. Everything you share with our attorneys and staff is treated with strict confidentiality. The more we understand your situation ,   both the challenges and the successe s,   the better equipped we are to develop a strategy that truly fits your needs. It’s important that your legal   representative   has a full picture of your case, even the difficult parts, so   we   can advocate effectively   for you

You don’t need to have a “perfect story”—just be honest and be yourself.

  1. Bring a Support Person (If You’d Like)

Legal matters can be emotional, especially when they involve family. If it helps, bring a trusted friend or relative to take notes or offer support.

  1. Let’s Figure Things Out Together

Your first consultation is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll ask questions, listen carefully, and explain your options. You don’t need to have all the answers—we’re here to guide you.
